Since 2017, Covered Colorado has helped 153 survivors to get them on their feet. Additionally, we have helped hundreds of survivors through our crisis coordination. We know there is much more to be done.
Our comprehensive program is designed to meet survivors where they are, providing a trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and empowerment-based approach to healing and self-sufficiency. Utilizing evidence-based practices, we equip and support each survivor with the tools necessary for long-term stability. Our services include case management, individual and group therapy, a job readiness program, and assistance in securing independent housing.
The first phase of our program begins at Lighthouse, offering survivors a safe and structured short-term stabilization living environment where they can stay for up to 30 days. During this critical period, we prioritize medical care, mental health support, safety planning, and individualized case management to address immediate needs. Our team works closely with each survivor to assess their situation, connect them with essential resources, and develop a personalized plan for their next steps—whether that involves transitioning into our longer-term residential program, reconnecting with safe family members, or pursuing other pathways to stability.
For survivors ready to take the next step, Covered House provides a structured living environment where they can stay for up to two years. Survivors in the program come to our Care and Education Center daily to foster growth, connection, and confidence. Our multidisciplinary team delivers wrap‑around case management, individual counseling including EMDR provided by licensed counselors, group psychoeducational classes, and vibrant community‑building activities. Survivors can advance through our job‑readiness program while continuing to strengthen coping skills and healthy relationship patterns in a safe, encouraging environment. Our staff walks alongside each participant, ensuring they gain the practical tools, emotional resilience, and supportive network they need to step into long‑term independence and success.
The challenges we face in our mission have grown significantly over the past year. In 2024, we opened Lighthouse in response to our community's need for immediate crisis housing for survivors who have left their traffickers and are not yet ready to join a long-term comprehensive program (Covered House). The rising costs of food and everyday living expenses have put an additional strain on our program and the survivors we serve.
Your continued support is crucial in helping us bridge this gap and provide the necessary resources for these survivors to rebuild their lives. Your donation will directly contribute to helping each survivor as she rebuilds her life.
By making a tax-deductible donation today, you can help us make an impact on the lives of trafficking survivors in Colorado. Together, we can provide them with the resources and opportunities they need to build a future filled with hope, dignity, and self-sufficiency.
Mission Statement: Our goal at Covered is to empower each sex trafficking survivor toward healing and self-sufficiency.
Vision Statement: Covered’s vision is to see survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation recover from the abuse and trauma of trafficking. Our goal is also to bring awareness of trafficking in the Denver Metro Area and work with local law enforcement, the court system, and task forces to eradicate sex trafficking in Colorado.
Covered started in 2017 after our founder discovered that there are very few resources in Colorado for sex trafficking victims over the age of eighteen. A group of people wanting to make a difference got together and formed Covered. After receiving our 501c3 status as a nonprofit, we began to build our program and help survivors find hope and healing. Covered continues to grow and improve on the resources and care that we are providing for these brave women seeking a new life.
