Mengtian's fundraiser for Savio House and families

I’ve been working at Savio House for 5 months now. It’s not a very long time, but it has been long enough for me to learn how important the mission of this organization — and the people working here — truly is.

As part of the Family Wellness team, I drive to clients’ homes and provide family therapy to families who have experienced trauma. We work with both caregivers and children ranging from 6 to 15 years old. We help create safer living environments for families, improve maladaptive behaviors, build emotional regulation skills, equip families with practical tools, and connect them with community resources. Most of the work we do is trauma-focused.

I have seen with my own eyes how important Savio’s role is in the community, because services like this — the ones that can often help families the most — are frequently lacking in the system. I also see so many good people here doing their best every day to support the community.
