Honoring Milt McBride
The Hillside School & Center for Dyslexia is deeply honored to be the recipient of memorial gifts made in memory of Milt McBride, a beloved father, grandfather, husband, friend, and community member. In recognition of his connection to our mission, a memorial tile in his name will be placed on Hillside’s Community Legacy Wall—a centerpiece of our new Dyslexia Center opening this fall.
This wall will be a mosaic of stories—a tapestry of names, messages, and memories that reflect the strength and spirit of our Hillside community. Each tile is more than just a name; it’s a symbol of perseverance, a beacon of hope, and a reminder that no student walks this path alone. By honoring Milt in this way, his legacy will stand alongside others who have shaped and supported our mission, inspiring generations of students to come.
A man of many talents, Milt was an engineer, athlete, singer, and mentor. He had a gift for fixing things, whether it was a complex power system, a broken ski binding, a flat tire, or a problem that needed a solution. Above all, he was a devoted family man. His grandchildren lovingly called him "The Warrior," a testament to his strength, patience, perseverance, and unwavering support for those he loved.
Milt was dyslexic, and his daughter Rachel, who is also dyslexic, has dedicated her career to supporting students with dyslexia as the Director of Educational Programs at Hillside. His family's decision to direct all memorial gifts toward the Hillside School & Center for Dyslexia is a powerful tribute—one that transforms his legacy into opportunity, support, and a brighter future for students with dyslexia. These contributions will help fund the creation of our expanded, purpose-built school and center, ensuring that students receive the education and resources they need to thrive.
By contributing to Hillside in Milt’s memory, you are helping build a future where students with dyslexia are understood, supported, and empowered. His name on the Community Legacy Wall will not only honor his life but also serve as a guiding light for students and families who walk through our doors.
