Mission

Hillside School and Center for Dyslexia unlocks the potential of dyslexic students through specialized instruction and champions awareness and change through community and professional engagement.

Background Statement

Founded in 2005, Hillside School began as a small, specialized program designed to meet the needs of students with dyslexia and related language-based learning differences. What started as a half-day academic program has evolved into a nationally recognized model of literacy intervention, teacher training, and community partnership.

Today, Hillside serves students in grades 1–8 through both its intensive half-day and newly expanded full-day programs. The half-day program provides targeted instruction in reading, writing, and math using evidence-based, multisensory methods. The full-day program builds on that foundation—integrating executive function coaching, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning to create a comprehensive, well-rounded educational experience. Students make measurable academic gains and, equally important, rediscover confidence and joy in learning.

Hillside’s impact extends beyond its classrooms through the Hillside Center for Dyslexia—a growing hub for literacy expertise, professional development, and outreach. The Center partners with schools, parents, and professionals to identify, support, and empower students with dyslexia through teacher training, diagnostic services, and community education.

Together, Hillside School & Center for Dyslexia represent a comprehensive approach to addressing the full continuum of dyslexia support—bridging direct student instruction with systemic change in how reading is taught and understood across Colorado and beyond.
