Over the span of 23 years, ScSEED has sponsored so many community efforts to create a better life in Saguache County. From planning strategies, facilitating community meetings, surveys and data collecting, writing grants, building partnerships and networking across the Valley and beyond, hosting the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, publishing local assessments and historic brochures, downtown revitalization projects, environmental clean-up and preservation, healthy living efforts, youth education and recreation, economic development programs encouraging local shopping, recording and preserving rural lifestyles for posterity; all the way to acting as a fiscal sponsor and non-profit umbrella for community groups. Â

Creation of the ScSEED Strategic Plan
Developed a local currency, Mountain Money in partnership with Saguache County Credit Union

ScSEED- Saguache County Sustainable Environment and Economic Development is a grassroots organization since 1999, when local stakeholders came together to develop strategies to guide the growth and maintain the rural character of Saguache County.
Strategy #1: Encourage the communities and people of Saguache County to work together for mutual benefit.
Strategy #2: Develop small businesses and cooperative enterprises that sustainably use and add value to Saguache County resources.
Strategy #3: Preserve and protect the environmental health of Saguache County.
Strategy #4: Increase lifelong health care, educational, vocational, recreational and social options in Saguache County.
