Swallow Hill Music brings the joy of music to life every day.
Founded in 1979, Swallow Hill Music began as an outgrowth of the Denver Folklore Center, a music store in Denver's Swallow Hill neighborhood that offered music lessons and performances to the community in the 1960s and 1970s. When the Folklore Center closed temporarily in the late 1970s, a group of committed volunteers formed SHM as a nonprofit organization whose mission is "to bring the joy of music to life every day." From these humble beginnings, we have grown to become a cultural asset and distinct thread in Colorado's musical fabric.
"Thank you for fulfilling such a huge need. Since school budgets have prevented exposure in class, Swallow Hill Music's mission has never been more critical. Thank you for all that you do in making the community a better place!"
"I just moved to Colorado and the opportunity to experience such wonderful live music at such affordable prices has been a real gift. I love the intimate setting and sense of community. Thank you for all you do to make this possible."
