What is the Colorado Child Care Contribution Credit?

Colorado allows a 50% state income tax credit for monetary donations made to eligible child care programs. That means if you contribute $1,000, you may be able to reduce your Colorado tax bill by $500.

The Dual Success of Little Swallows Preschool Program

Our Little Swallows early childhood music program uses songs, creative movement, rhymes, percussion instruments, and other playful musical activities to support preschoolers’ growth during their most formative years.

Outreach Director Joshua Abeyta describes it best:

“To me, this program offers a dual success. Schools that are under-resourced and have communities that are historically marginalized suffer the most from budget cuts. So being able to offer music education—which is often the first thing cut—to those students is the mission of the program.”

On the other side, Little Swallows also uplifts the talented musician-educators who bring the program to life.

“We’ve curated an amazing team of instructors, and we prioritize finding teachers who reflect the populations they work with. Providing economic and leadership opportunities to professional musicians from those communities is the other side of the coin when it comes to impact,” Joshua shares.

In schools where music programs are often eliminated, Little Swallows fills a vital gap—bringing joy, creativity, and a sense of belonging to classrooms across Colorado. Even a half-hour of music each week gives students a meaningful outlet for self-expression and supports teachers with tools for integrating music into learning.
