Hi, I’m Tessa Ditterline, and I’m a member of the Tour Choir of the Colorado children’s chorale!
I was introduced to the chorale in third grade, when they visited my school. After seeing them perform, I immediately was like, “OH MY GOSH, I WANT TO DO THAT!!” It was like they knew, because they started a workshop, and a choir member invited me on stage to learn a song and its choreography. Four years later, I now have the chance to do the same for others, performing at schools across the state and meeting new friends, some of whom later join the chorale themselves, to do the exact same thing.
Another thing I love about singing with the chorale is having the opportunity to perform. Each performance offers the audience a brief escape for a few hours that they may remember forever. You never know who in the audience is watching you, getting encouraged by you to keep going.
This year’s chorale theme is “Free to Be All of Me,” a lyric from one of our songs that’s woven into a playful composition inspired by children’s games. It resonates with me because it captures the joy of childhood and reminds me to appreciate these moments. The theme also motivates me to keep singing, since new opportunities can appear when you least expect them.
The Colorado Children's Chorale is a different thing for everyone. Strikes for song is an opportunity to donate to the chorale, to help it continue it’s magical work.
Thank you!
