Background Statement
The Colorado Children's Chorale is a performing arts organization dedicated to excellence in choral singing and performance skills. The organization was established in 1974 when founder Duain Wolfe was asked to assemble a youth chorus to perform in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with Central City Opera. Through that experience, Mr. Wolfe recognized an ongoing need in the arts community for a professionally-trained children's choir. Since then, the Chorale has regularly collaborated with local arts organizations.
The Chorale expanded its mission in 1994 when former Artistic Director Deborah DeSantis established its Education Program. The Program has guided teachers and provided music and performance training for their students, free of charge, for more than 20 years.
Since its founding, the Chorale has extended its reach as a major performing arts institution and cultural resource beyond Denver and the Colorado Front Range. We regularly serve communities regionally, nationally, and internationally. When another performing arts organization requires children's voices and performers, the Chorale is called upon. As a result, its young members regularly perform alongside professionally-trained musicians more than twice their age and have shared the stage with some of the world's finest performing arts organizations and renowned artists. The Chorale is invited and engaged to perform for inaugurations, community celebrations, public concerts, private occasions, and high-profile events throughout the state and beyond.
