The Driftless Flyathlon has been a staple of our family for a decade. The event itself is trail race along the stream banks of Yellow River State Forest. It is not simply an ordinary race because each participant is required to carry their fly-fishing rod and any accessories they may need to catch a fish along the trail. Runner/anglers are given a time deduction if they catch a fish and the size of the fish determines the deduction. There are participants from all over the Midwest and beyond that come together for a weekend to share stories, beers, and make a positive impact on the precious habitat and water in the Driftless region of Iowa. The heart of that impact is through fundraising for the event. The money that we have raised over the years has gone directly back to Iowa land and water. Through fishing easements, land purchases, back stabilization, and habit construction we are helping to ensure that generations after us will be able to enjoy these areas just as we have. If you are able to give to our fundraiser, just know that it means the world to us. I would also like to thank so many of our family and friends that have supported us in this cause over the years. Your contributions have done some amazing work through this event. Even though this is a Colorado based organization, all of the fundraising efforts of this event go directly to projects here in Iowa.
