This year, Shannon Love is turning 50, and she isn't asking for anything for herself. Her one wish is to bring clean water to the Maasai community of Sanya Station, Tanzania.
Sanya Station isn't just a place on a map to her. It's where her sons, Julius and TJ, were born and raised. It's where their family still lives, where their elders still gather, and where the community that shaped them is waiting every time they go home. Today, Julius and TJ are students at the University of Colorado Denver, but their hearts are still in that village.
Right now, getting water in Sanya Station is a daily struggle. Women and children walk miles every day to fetch it, and even then, what they bring home isn't always safe to drink. Kids miss school to make the trip. Crops fail. Livestock suffer. And when the dry season hits, even those long walks aren't enough.
A well would shift the whole rhythm of life in this village. Healthier children. More time in classrooms. Cattle that survive the dry months. Families that can plan for what's ahead instead of just surviving the day. It's the kind of gift that doesn't run out.
That's what Shannon wants for her 50th. Not something for herself, but something for the community that gave her two incredible sons.
We're asking you to join her. Whatever you can give, $5, $50, or $500, brings us closer to breaking ground. This is one birthday gift that keeps on giving long after the candles are out.
Help us make Shannon's wish come true.
With love, Shannon!
