Durango Open Studio Tour

Each October, emerging and professional artists throughout Durango, Colorado, open their working studios to the public, inviting visitors to explore local art, discover creative inspiration, and connect directly with the artists who make it. From paintings and photography to sculpture, mixed media, and more, visitors can experience a diverse range of original artwork, learn about artists' techniques and creative processes, and purchase locally made fine art.

The Durango Open Studio Tour is a unique, free, self-guided experience for local residents and visiting art lovers and collectors. Over one October weekend, participants create their own customized tour of working artist studios throughout the Durango area, discovering the people, creative spaces, and mountain settings that make our local arts community so distinctive. The weekend begins with a Friday evening Opening Exhibition featuring artwork by participating Tour artists, followed by two days of open studios where visitors can meet artists, see where and how they work, and experience art in the places it is created.

The Tour's mission is to support local artists, connect them with local and visiting art patrons, and increase awareness and appreciation of the arts in Durango. By providing a welcoming, accessible platform for both emerging and established artists, the Tour strengthens our creative community, encourages art purchases that support local livelihoods, and contributes to Durango's cultural vitality and visitor experience during the fall shoulder season.

Equally important is our commitment to investing in local creative professionals. Hiring and fairly compensating local photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and organizers supports the talent and expertise needed to produce a high-quality community event while keeping Tour resources circulating within our local economy.
