Keep the Pages Turning for Colorado Kids!

Hello friends and fellow booklovers! 

I joined Reach Out and Read earlier this year and have been constantly impressed by their dedication to early literacy for all Colorado children (if you want to know more, details on the organization are below the photo).  Books have the power to spark imagination, curiosity, connection, and empathy, and research shows that shared reading experiences increase brain and language development, create strong caregiver-child connections, and improve kindergarten readiness.  

My love of reading was instilled in me by time spent cuddled up with loved ones reading books. I specifically remember a book of fairy tales that had a handle on the spine and I would carry it with me everywhere.  My parents read this book to me so many times I was able to memorize the stories and even when to turn the page - impressing visitors with my "reading" before I truly knew how.

About Reach Out and Read Colorado

Everyone remembers the magic of their first favorite book — the story that made them fall in love with reading, or the moment someone special read aloud to them.  Your first book helped shape who you are. Now, you can give that gift to a new generation.

Help Colorado kids fall in love with reading and join Reach Out and Read Colorado this Colorado Gives Day to promote early literacy, family connectivity, and a joy of reading for the kids in your community. Reading aloud with a loved one in the early years prepares a child for a lifetime of success. 

Reading aloud together can change everything – $36 starts a child’s learning journey in their first year of life. 

Your donation will help support Reach Out and Read Colorado as we partner with pediatricians throughout the state to 'prescribe' high quality books and provide guidance for parents/caregivers at 330,000 well-child visits this year. 

Reach Out and Read Colorado’s program not only provides underserved families with books to build home libraries, but it also promotes learning and skill building for both parents and children. The simple act of unplugging and reading a book together is proven to increase brain and language development, create strong parent-child connections, and improve kindergarten readiness— And when a child is set up for success from an early age, the possibilities and opportunities are endless!
