Hundreds of medically vulnerable kittens. Rising intake. High risk of disease. Significant cost to prevent illness and provide lifesaving care.
Help us raise $10,000 to prepare for the most challenging part of the year: Kitten Season
Each spring and summer, Cat Care Society braces for “kitten season,” a surge of vulnerable kittens in need of intensive, round-the-clock care. While the kittens may be small, their impact on shelter resources is large.
Your support helps provide lifesaving medical care, supplies, and foster support for the hundreds of kittens who will come through our doors this season.
Cat Care Society spends a significant amount caring for over 350+ kittens each year, including $7,000+ on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) alone.
From bottle feeding to treating highly contagious illnesses, kitten care is complex, time-intensive, and costly. Many kittens have underdeveloped immune systems, making protective equipment and strict protocols essential to keeping them safe.
A gift today helps ensure we’re ready for the influx ahead by providing the care, supplies, and support these tiny lives depend on.
How Kitten Season Strains Our Shelter
Many kittens arrive too young to be vaccinated and are highly susceptible to disease. During kitten season, intake increases sharply—along with the financial and supply demands required to keep them alive.
In preparation for a heavy influx of kittens, we must rapidly scale up care for these vulnerable cases who often require:
• Medical supplies and treatment for infections and illness
• Strict sanitation, disinfection and isolation protocols contagious or high-risk kittens (disinfectants, cleaning supplies etc)
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent disease spread (gloves, gowns, etc)
• Foster placements and supplies for round-the-clock care/bottle feeding
These needs multiply quickly as intake rises, stretching both budgets and physical supplies. Without these resources, disease can spread quickly across litters, increasing both cost and mortality risk.
What Your Support Provides
Your gift directly supports the essentials that make kitten season care possible:
• PPE to reduce disease transmission ($7k+/year)
• Core vaccinations and preventive care ($7k+/year)
• Cleaning and sanitation supplies ($10k+/year)
• Spay/neuter surgeries ($11k+/year)
• Foster program support, microchips, spay/neuter surgeries, medical exams, diagnostics, specialized nutrition, and more!
With your support we can proactively respond to rising intake, prevent disease outbreaks, care for medically fragile kittens, support foster caregivers, and improve survival and adoption outcomes.
