Take Flight 27

Dear Friends,

Birds know something about building for the future.

A nest is built one piece at a time. A twig. A strand of grass. Something strong enough to hold what comes next.

Over the past several years, that is exactly what you have helped us do at Denver Audubon.

We built the nest.

We invested in our people and strengthened our programs. We welcomed thousands of people into nature. We expanded opportunities to learn, volunteer, and take action for birds. We invested in the Kingery Nature Center as a home for our community. And together, we built an organization ready to do more.

This year's Impact Report tells that story.

In FY26 alone, more than 14,000 people participated in 426 Denver Audubon activities. Volunteers gave more than 11,000 hours—the equivalent of five full-time employees. Our community rallied around conservation, education, research, and the belief that a future where birds and people thrive together is worth investing in.

Those numbers matter. But what excites me most is what they make possible next.

We've built the nest. Now it's time to take flight.

As we begin FY27, we're launching Take Flight 27, and we're keeping it simple.

1,000 people. Two weeks. One big start to FY27.

Over the next two weeks, we're asking 1,000 people to help launch Denver Audubon's new fiscal year.

A gift of $27 in honor of FY27 would help us reach $27,000—but this campaign isn't really about the size of your gift. It's about the size of our flock. Whether you give $10, $27, $100, or more, you count toward our goal of 1,000 people choosing to move this work forward together.

And 1,000 people can accomplish a lot.

Together, we can put habitat restoration projects on the ground throughout the year. We can bring a Motus wildlife tracking station to the Kingery Nature Center. We can invest in summer camp instructors and replace aging decks at the Nature Center. We can bring our community together through Flocktoberfest, Wings & Wonder, and a Summer Garden Party & Artisan Market.

It's the practical, meaningful work that moves the needle for birds—and brings more people into that work with us.

Throughout Take Flight 27, we'll also be inviting you to join us for special activities that illuminate what your support makes possible—from connecting children and families with nature to restoring habitat, gathering our community, and creating opportunities for people to turn their love of birds into meaningful action.

Because ultimately, that is what Denver Audubon is about.

We believe people protect what they love. Our job is to help more people discover that connection, deepen it, and give them meaningful ways to act.

Everything you see in this report happened because people chose to care. And because of you, we enter FY27 with momentum, ambition, and a strong foundation beneath us.

Now let's see how far this flock can fly. Help us fill in the feathers and send our bluebird soaring!
