Helping Students & Families at Evergreen HS

Dear Family & Friends,

Our hearts are with the Students & Families of Evergreen High School here in Colorado. This has no doubt impacted our friends who teach there and the students we know who go there.  It hits too close to our home…

As my friend, Heather Brown, recently shared, the Evergreen community showed the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps such compassion back in 2013, when we were caught in the middle of a mountain fire during spring training to learn their competitive marching band show. Forced to evacuate, we took shelter in the Evergreen public library. The way the town welcomed us—calm, generous, and gracious—left a lasting mark on all of us. Evergreen will always hold a special place in my heart for the lesson they gave us in what it means to be a true host and neighbor.

Now Evergreen is facing a heartbreaking tragedy of its own. The recent shooting at Evergreen High School has left students, families, and the whole community reeling. In moments like these, it’s easy to feel powerless. But we can do something meaningful.

The Colorado Healing Fund (CHF) has been activated to provide direct support for victims, students, staff, families, and the broader Evergreen community. CHF ensures donations go directly where they’re needed most, both now and in the difficult weeks and months ahead. The Colorado Gives Foundation will also cover all fees beyond the 2.05% processing cost, so your gift goes exactly where you intend.

This is about standing together as people, neighbors, and friends. Evergreen once gave us care in a moment of need. Now we have the chance to return that compassion.

*NOTE: I will match 100% all donations (up to our goal) to the Colorado Healing Fund to help students at Evergreen High School.
