Our Mission

The Family Systems Collaborative is dedicated to ensuring that every child impacted by legal, social, or systemic challenges receives skilled, trauma-informed advocacy. Children navigating family court, custody disputes, or other complex legal processes often face uncertainty, stress, and instability. Families and professionals alike can feel overwhelmed, and children’s needs may go unnoticed.

Our work bridges that gap, providing social work expertise, guidance, and support to both children and the professionals working on their cases. We ensure that advocacy is thoughtful, effective, and developmentally appropriate—so that children are seen, heard, and supported in every situation affecting their lives.

Why We Exist

I founded FSC after years of observing the challenges children and families face in legal systems, and after working within Colorado's legal system as a trained social work consultant. I saw firsthand how high caseloads, complex family dynamics, and limited resources compromise the support children receive—and the profound difference a skilled social worker can make when integrated into cases involving family law, custody, or related legal proceedings. A nonprofit dedicated to this work was essential.

How We Work

We partner with family law attorneys, Child and Family Investigators, and other legal professionals working with children and families in divorce, custody, and related proceedings.

We provide the trauma-informed, family systems lens that legal training doesn't cover. Our services include:

• Case Consultation: Helping legal professionals understand trauma, family dynamics, and children's developmental needs as they affect a case.
• Family Support: Helping families navigate difficult proceedings and understand what the legal process requires of them.
• Professional Guidance: Equipping attorneys and investigators with child-centered, trauma-informed tools to advocate more effectively.

The Start Strong Fund

This is FSC's first fundraising initiative, designed to establish a sustainable foundation for high-quality child advocacy in the Denver metro area. We are raising $175,000 to fund our first full year of operations. These funds will support:

• Leadership & Direct Service — FSC's founder serves as both primary practitioner and organizational leader, delivering trauma-informed consultation directly to legal professionals and families while building the systems and partnerships that will sustain this work long-term.
• Program Development — Building the training materials, professional resources, and outreach infrastructure that allow FSC to serve more children and families effectively.
• Website, Technology & Operations — The essential tools that allow FSC to operate with professionalism, transparency, and efficiency.

Families and children always receive services free of charge.
