Where do local teens go to safely gather outside of school?
The one affordable alcohol and drug-free indoor venue open year-round for all ages has been closed since December of 2020. For Lake County’s youth specifically, Lake County Aquatic Center (LCAC) offered an enticing alternative to sedentary screen time or finding trouble in the streets. Kids learned how to swim. Lifesaving and water safety instruction classes certified local high school and college students. The aquatic center also provided an opportunity for underserved youth to enter the workforce with skills that led to livable wages in tourism and recreation, a multibillion-dollar industry in Colorado.
Emily from the Lake County High School Leadership Class would love to once again have an affordable alcohol and drug-free indoor space open year-round for friends to gather.
