The Magic of A First Book!

Hello friends,

Think back to the children's book that first pulled you in… the book you asked to hear “just one more time” or the voice of someone special reading aloud and bringing those pages to life — for me it was first Rainbow Fish and then Harry Potter that created the magical moments of reading with a loved one. Now, we have the chance to pass that magic on to Colorado's next generation.

This Little Dreamer!As most of you know by now, I work for Reach Out and Read Colorado. AND with a new nephew in my life (King Henrik, see the adorable photos🥰), I feel more passionate than ever about ensuring that all young children, no matter their zip code or socio-economic status, have the strong start they deserve. Reading aloud in the earliest years is proven to improve brain development, nurtures parent-child relationships, builds confidence, and sets children up for lifelong success – long before they ever walk into a classroom.

Reach Out and Read Colorado makes this possible by partnering with pediatricians to “prescribe” a free, developmentally appropriate book and provide literacy guidance to parents at every check-up from birth to age five, reaching more than 130,000 children last year.

A gift of any amount makes a real difference; just $17 supports one child in the Reach Out and Read program for an entire year.
