Open Bomb Squad Traveling Baseball Team to all!

Oftentimes, youth in smaller rural communities don’t have access to the same opportunities that young people in larger cities enjoy. Over the past seven years, we have worked hard to change that reality by establishing the Bomb Squad Traveling Baseball Program, giving players from across the San Luis Valley the chance to play, learn, and compete in tournaments throughout Colorado.

We currently support two teams of players ages 8–14, led entirely by volunteer coaches who dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to helping these young athletes grow. Our program is built around four core goals:

1. Keep kids motivated, active, and healthy
2. Teach baseball fundamentals and develop advanced skills
3. Build teamwork, leadership, and character
4. Provide meaningful opportunities and experiences beyond our valley

The San Luis Valley is rich in culture, community, and resilience — but many families face significant financial challenges. As a self‑made club, we work hard to keep our program sustainable and accessible. To do that, we rely on sponsorships, donations, and fundraisers to help cover tournament entry fees, uniforms, and essential equipment.

Why Support Matters

Tournament registration fees range from $700–$900 per team, and while we keep our player registration fee at just $150, other travel programs charge between $750–$2,000 per child. We are committed to keeping costs low so finances never become a barrier to participation.

Because of our rural location, families also shoulder significant travel expenses. Each tournament requires 2–3 days of travel to communities such as Pueblo, Grand Junction, Denver, Buena Vista, and Gunnison. Families often spend $500 or more per tournament on fuel, lodging, and meals.

Our Fundraising Goals

This year, we hope to:

• Keep participation fees low for all families
• Provide gas cards or travel stipends to help offset travel costs
• Build a scholarship fund to fully cover registration and partial travel expenses for families in need

Over the past two years our fundraising has allowed us to cover registration fees for three players! Due to increases in travel costs, this years’ goal is to give back to all our families by supporting each of them with a small travel stipend.
