Human-Animal Connection

Human Animal Connection began as one of our original programs at our Colorado Boys Ranch in 1959, and has evolved over the last 65 years to serve hundreds of youth.

Our innovative Human Animal Connection program uses the powerful, healing bond between humans and animals to help youth develop emotional insight, build trusting relationships, and strengthen their sense of self. Animals offer comfort, connection, and nonjudgmental companionship—creating a safe space where growth and healing can take root.

CBR YouthConnect takes a collaborative approach, partnering with youth-focused organizations, school districts, and a diverse network of skilled professionals and caring individuals. Together, we create experiences to help young people interact with animals while helping them to feel seen, valued, and empowered.

Because every young person deserves the chance to thrive—and sometimes, that journey starts with a paw, a hoof, or a wagging tail.
