Nate Faflick's Lake Fork Flyathlon Fundraiser!

Trout fishing has become one of my hobbies and passions while living in Steamboat Springs, CO. Learning how to fly fish has come with plenty of challenges, but nothing compares to the joy of landing a beautiful fish native to the river or lake you're standing in. The low snowpack and high temperatures have been highly stressful for fish throughout the state of Colorado, which is why I'm raising money to support the conservation of cutthroat trout!

Fishing has encouraged me to travel to rivers, lakes, and streams I would have never visited; helped me connect with friends and family who have moved away or passed on, and provided a therapeutic outlet in the midst of a chaotic and tumultuous world. I am joining other runners and anglers throughout the state to raise funds supporting the conservation of Colorado River Cutthroat trout by participating in their "Flyathlon" - An event combining fishing and running. Running Rivers is all in for Colorado native trout! And when you support Running Rivers through my 2026 Lake Fork Flyathlon fundraiser, you will empower this small-but-mighty 501(c)(3) organization to grow its conservation impact in 2026 and beyond. Running Rivers' dedicated board of directors has charted an ambitious path for the coming year including a growing number of impactful Colorado River cutthroat trout projects done in conjunction with their state, Federal, and non-profit conservation partners.

On September 19th, 2026, I will gather on the banks of the Lake Fork of the Gunnison with conservation-minded Flyathletes from around the country to compete in an irreverant race that is held to celebrate and to benefit the incredible Colorado River cutthroat trout. These unique fish are an essential and beautiful part of the Centennial State’s past and present, and with your support of Running Rivers through my campaign, you are committing to ensure a flourishing future for our fishy friends!
