The Jefferson County Food Policy Council is a community-led, collaborative organization working to build community power to influence change in Jefferson County, Colorado. We have over 350+ members working collaboratively towards a better food future for Jeffco.
With the challenges we’ve seen in 2025, from delays in SNAP benefits to the loss of important nutrition education funding, it’s clear we need stronger local policy to protect families and build a resilient food system. That's why the Jeffco Food Policy Council exists. We bring together leaders across our food system to advocate for solutions that keep resources rooted right here in Jefferson County.
In 2025, our Council has:
- Supported the piloting of cultural and locally sourced recipes at three schools leading to two recipes now being served across the whole district.
- Led a community driven food chain assessment and feasibility study to support local food chain coordination across Jefferson County.
- Created a community-led Volunteer Bill of Rights to increase community leadership in the Jeffco food pantries.
- Coordinated food pantries across Jeffco to start a collaborative fundraising platform that has raised $20k for direct food purchases.
Our work aims to change the conditions that create food insecurity so that our community is better for years to come. Each of these achievements will sustain long-term benefits for us all. We need you to help sustain us!
Right now, when you start a monthly gift, your first donation is matched up to $100! So your impact is doubled immediately to build a stronger food system and better food policies. Thank you for supporting the Jeffco Food Policy Council!
