Alex's Kempe Foundation Fundraiser

Earlier this year, I joined the board of directors of the Kempe Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect. There were many reasons for why I joined, but the most important to me is my conviction that a society should be measured by it how treats its most vulnerable members. No child is born into circumstances that they can control. Those circumstances are our responsibility. If we want every child to grow up in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment, then we must do something about it.  And you don't have to be a healthcare professional, a parent, or a politician to make difference.  All you have to do is a make a donation.  That donation will help to support the following Kempe Foundation goals:

1. Programs. Through partnerships with The Kempe Center and other experts in the field, Kempe funds evidence-based programs that help the most vulnerable.  For example, since 2022, The Kempe Center's TRIP program has worked with elementary schools in Weld County to provide mental health support for students. 

2. Advocacy. Kempe’s policy team works to pass child-focused policies to improve the lives of children in Colorado and beyond.  The Kempe Foundation is currently working to preserve funding for the CARE Network, a program that teaches medical professionals how to recognize signs of, and provide treatment for, child abuse.

3. Community Building. Through activities such as the Call to Action Conference, Kempe brings together experts, advocates, policymakers, individuals with lived experience, and others from all over the world to learn and collaborate on improving child welfare in Colorado and beyond.
