Meeting Them Where They Are: Empowering 2SLGBTQIA+ Resilience in Rural Colorado

The Partnership for Community Action (PfCA) is a dedicated 2SLGBTQIA+ haven in rural Colorado. In an area where isolation and a lack of affirming services can be fatal, your donation provides life-saving support and builds sustainable futures.

The Urgent Reality This past year has brought unprecedented challenges for our young queer community members. Our youth are facing crisis after crisis with little day-to-day support. Many, particularly trans youth, are under intense scrutiny at home and face increasingly abusive environments.

At the exact moment this crisis is peaking, institutional support is collapsing. Recent data shows that 90% of 2SLGBTQIA+ organizations have lost funding, and federal and foundation grants supporting transgender communities are facing catastrophic, near-total cuts. We cannot rely on outside institutional funding—these resources simply are not coming from anywhere else. Because of these deepening barriers, it has also become harder for youth to safely access a centralized physical space.

But the work hasn't slowed down—it has only become more critical. The need for our fierce advocacy and crisis intervention is greater than ever.

Altering How We Show Up To meet our community exactly where they are, PfCA is evolving. We are shifting our approach to bring our resources directly to the youth who can no longer come to us. We are currently raising funds for a mobile outreach initiative—including bike trailers and a small, strategically parked trailer—to deliver PfCA’s vital services, accessible activities, and basic needs directly to our youth, bypassing the barriers that keep them isolated.

Building Pathways to Stability Beyond immediate crisis intervention, we are actively creating pathways to independence and wellbeing. We are developing job opportunities for queer youth, facilitating access to continued education, and connecting them with vital health support and everyday resources. We are not just helping them survive; we are giving them the tools to thrive.
