Localworks creates opportunities for people to connect. We give neighbors a reason to meet neighbors. We create spaces where people can gather, learn, make and belong. We help local businesses put down deeper roots. We give people meaningful ways to have a voice in what happens around them.

You may not always be able to see or touch what your gift to Localworks makes possible. But you can feel it. It’s in the neighbor who becomes a friend, the local business that feels supported, the gathering that makes someone feel like they belong, and the person who realizes their voice matters.

That kind of connection doesn’t happen by accident. It takes people and organizations committed to creating it, over and over again.

This Colorado Gives Day, support Localworks and help keep connection constant in a world that can feel increasingly disconnected.

Not familiar with our programs? We encourage you to learn more below. More importantly, we hope you experience connection with us soon!

Connecting Neighbors & Building Community

We create reasons for people to get out of their homes, meet one another and build stronger relationships with their community. Programs like Block Party Grants and the Block Party Library give residents the resources to create connection right on their own streets. TLC Clean Up Days and Dumpster Grants bring neighbors together around improving the places they share. Larger community events like Ridgefest, Live Local and other seasonal events create opportunities for hundreds—and sometimes thousands—of people to experience Wheat Ridge together.

The event or grant may be what gets someone there, but connection is the actual goal.

Supporting Local Businesses & Economic Vitality

Local businesses are part of what gives a community its identity, and Localworks invests in helping them stay, grow and succeed.

Through programs like Building Up Business loans, Resource Roundtables, Live Local, business-focused events and other direct business support, we connect entrepreneurs with capital, resources, customers and one another. We also manage and promote Ridge at 38 as a destination, using events, marketing and placemaking to bring people into the corridor and support the businesses that make it unique.

Clear Creek Makerspace expands that work even further by providing access to tools, education, workspace and a community where entrepreneurs, makers and creators can turn ideas into something real.

Creating an Engaged Community

We believe people are more likely to care for and invest in their community when they understand how it works and feel like they have a place in it.

Our civic engagement programming creates approachable ways for residents to learn, participate and have a voice. Wheat Ridge 101 and 102 help residents better understand local government and move from learning about their community to actively shaping it. Committees, volunteer opportunities and community conversations give people additional ways to contribute their time, ideas and expertise.

The goal isn't simply to get people involved in Localworks. It's to create more connected, informed and engaged community members.

Investing in Place

Sometimes building a stronger community means creating connection. Sometimes it means investing directly in the physical places people live, work and gather.

Programs like Home Improvement Loans help residents invest in their homes and neighborhoods. TLC programs help keep neighborhoods clean and cared for. Ridge at 38 programming strengthens an important commercial corridor. Clear Creek Makerspace created a completely new community asset where people can learn, build businesses, make things and connect.

Across all of this work, we're looking at the same bigger question: What does this community need to continue being a vibrant place where people want to live, work, build a business and belong?

That is really what connects everything Localworks does.

A block party and a business loan may look completely different on paper. So might a makerspace, a civic education program and a community festival. But they're all tools for accomplishing the same thing: creating a community where people know one another, participate in what happens around them, support the places and businesses that make their community unique, and feel connected to the place they call home.
