BRITE Collaborative focuses on the tools and skills needed to build strong relationships based in respect that can handle bumps over the course of time.

BRITE offers training in these skills to families, individuals, organizations, schools, and municipalities in Longmont, Boulder County, and across the nation. BRITE utilizes a Restorative Justice structure to intervene when a harm in a relationship has occurred.

BRITE Co works adjacent to Longmont Public Safety to deflect as many youth and adults as possible from the criminal justice system. We maintain a success rate of 95% with our restorative justice interventions - as opposed to the 30% success rate of the traditional justice system.

Your gift today is an investment in our youth and the future of our community. It is an investment in empathy, understanding, and the belief in the potential for positive change in fellow members of our community.

BRITE's Impact on the Community:

  • Less than 10% of youth that are referred to an BRITE program by Longmont’s youth deflection program end up re-offending compared to Colorado and national rates upwards of 70% recidivism.
  • 33% of youth who enter into the youth diversion program in Longmont are referred to one of BRITE’s programs.
  • Participant satisfaction with the Restorative Justice process is consistently over 95%. This includes responses from responsible parties, harmed parties, volunteer community members, referring school personnel, and law enforcement.
  • 99% of participating harmed parties report feeling that the responsible party was held accountable for their actions through the Community Restorative Justice (CRJ) process.
  • 90% of BRITE’s responsible parties complete their contracts. Staff members continually review CRJ eligibility criteria, evaluate the preparedness of volunteers to assist responsible parties in being successful, and assess the responsiveness of our case management services.
  • The City of Longmont REWiND team tracks rates of youth offense in Longmont and how BRITE’s work in the youth diversion program is able to reduce this number.
  • Each referred case costs on average $2,500 compared to $18,000 to keep a youth on probation for a year in Colorado or $140,000 per year for them to be incarcerated.
