Since last Colorado Gives Day, PlatteForum has been busy impacting the lives of teens and artists of all ages. We create meaningful programs for the whole community to engage with.

Highlights of our Year:

  • 2022-23 serving 40 teen interns. PlatteForum was able to expand ArtLab to serve 27 teen interns in 2021-22, and expanded again in 2022-23 to serve 40 teen interns.
  • 200 hours. ArtLab interns received over 200 hours of programming including working with 4 resident artists and 8 lead artists and many other community activists and leaders.
  • A.I.R. Annex Gallery. PlatteForum opened its (Artist In Residence) A.I.R. Annex Gallery at TAXI Community with a dedicated space for a resident artists' studio and gallery.
  • 20 years of service. PlatteForum celebrated 20 years of service to the arts community with the well attended UnGala: RetroFuture.
  • 100% of ArtLab interns graduated high school, 62.5% are attending college, and all interns actively participated in positive pathway activities (i.e., work, school, pro-social community groups, etc.)
  • 126 teens served. PlatteForum provided an off-site modified ArtLab program at DSST: Cole High School which served 46 teens and provided an in-school ArtLab elective course at North High School which served 80 teens.
  • Listen to Our Cries. ArtLab interns planned and curated their own art exhibition, Listen to Our Cries, a multimedia exhibit featuring original work from each intern.
  • Convos with Gen Z. PlatteForum hosted Convos with Gen Z featuring local artists, activists, and community leaders in roundtable discussions led by ArtLab interns.
  • Press and Praise. PlatteForum received much press and praise in the media for its expansion, its renowned resident artists, Listen to Our Cries, our 20th Anniversary, a featured article in Hyperallergic and more.
  • Mental health support. PlatteForum expanded wrap-around services to include mental health support and free therapy for our community, a food pantry and more.
  • Life 101. PlatteForum continues to offer tutoring support, Life 101 and post-secondary prep for ArtLab Interns.
  • Youth Voice. Three ArtLab interns served as Youth Voice Representatives on PlatteForum’s Board of Directors.
  • Colfax Community Network. ArtLab interns served as near-peer mentors for workshops with CNN youth, grades K-5.

This just skims the surface of the work we do each year in service to our arts community.
