You know that youth
... need a place to express themselves.
... thrive where there are caring, inspiring adults.
... crave more connection.
PlatteForum is that safe space for creative high school youth.
Your gift gives a child 14-18 years old:
-A year round paid internship.
-Connections with dozens of professional artists for hands-on learning.
-Leadership development and college/career readiness.
-Mental wellness workshops, peer support and individual therapy.
-Food pantry and tutoring support.
Youth in our program share in their own words:
“Since ArtLab, I've grown not only as a person but also as an artist.”
“Ever since I've joined ArtLab I've felt more expressive than ever, I have started to believe that my expression could truly change the world.”
“I love having a place I feel like I can actually be myself.”
“ArtLab makes me think that maybe, just maybe, things won’t be that bad.”
Mission
Using the arts as a bridge, we connect youth and artists with resources to reach their full potential.
Background Statement
Since 2002, PlatteForum has enacted our mission through arts education, artist and youth development programs, and by providing a space that centers creativity, belonging, wellness, and youth voice.
PlatteForum’s flagship programs are the ArtLab Youth Internship and interconnected Artist Residency. Participants from these programs, professional artists and creative youth, are teamed up to create artwork about issues they care most about. These long-term connections culminate in public gallery exhibitions. Both groups are supported with wrap-around resources, mentorship, and opportunities to lead.
