Shimmy Mob is a global belly dance event that raises awareness for domestic violence and supports abuse survivors. We have teams in countries all over the world as well as a virtual team.

Our mission is to create change through education, awareness, and support. We dance to make a difference and to help create a world free from abuse. No matter where you are on earth, you can be part of the mission's movement.

Shimmy Mob has the similar essence of a flash mob, but one that is fully planned and strategically executed. It is the largest event of its kind by geographical territory covered in one day worldwide. Teams include people of all ages, genders, and body types who perform a choreographed dance routine. No dance experience is necessary.

The performances happen every year on the 2nd Saturday in the month of May around the planet to celebrate World Belly Dance Day. The local events benefit local survivors of abuse and promote the dance itself, along with all the sponsors and volunteers in the participating communities.

The Denver Shimmy Mob team supports Safehouse Denver. SafeHouse Denver is the city and county's only agency that provides a full continuum of care for survivors of domestic violence and their children. SafeHouse Denver serves an average of 1,200 adults and youth each year - all 100% free of charge thanks to support from community members like you.

Join us and help create change one shimmy at a time!
