Support Early Literacy in Colorado!

Reach Out and Read Colorado promotes early literacy and child development in such a meaningful and unique way – by incorporating books and literacy guidance into pediatric care.

Reach Out and Read Colorado partners with pediatric clinics throughout the state to provide books to families and encourage families to read aloud together. At every well-child visit between birth and age 5, pediatricians discuss the importance of reading together, and families are given a new board or picture book to take home with them.

Reach Out and Read Colorado’s program not only provides families with books to build home libraries, but it also promotes cognitive, social, and emotional development in children. Books have the power to spark imagination, curiosity, connection, and empathy, and research shows that shared reading experiences increase brain and language development, create strong caregiver-child connections, and improve kindergarten readiness.  

Reading aloud together can change everything – $36 starts a child’s learning journey in their first year of life.
