As someone who works for Reach Out and Read Colorado (RORCO), I get to see firsthand how something as simple as reading together can change a family’s story — and a child’s future.
Imagine a toddler holding their very first book. Now imagine a parent realizing, maybe for the first time, that they are their child’s favorite storyteller. That moment changes everything.
RORCO’s mission is to improve school readiness and social-emotional skills through trusted literacy guidance and reading together. We put books directly into children’s hands and coach families during pediatric visits — starting at birth — so reading becomes part of everyday life when it matters most.
This year for Colorado Gives, I’m raising funds not just because it matters, but because I’ve seen the impact with my own eyes.
My goal: 10 donors and $1,000 raised
That could mean:
- More families leaving checkups with brand-new books.
- More parents confident in supporting early brain development.
- More shared moments that build connection and future success.
If you believe every child deserves the strongest possible start — filled with stories, nurturing moments, and opportunity — I’d be so grateful for your support.
Reaching this goal isn’t just about a dollar amount or a donor count for me — it’s about showing families they’re not alone, and reminding them that the smallest moments, like opening a book together, can change everything. Thanks for being part of that with me!
