The Mile High Chess Club was established by From The Heart Foundation in an effort to cultivate  the minds and spirits of adolescent youth who society may deem as “at-risk” individuals, and change that stereotype into a much more positive term, viewing them as “at-potential” Kings and Queens with limitless opportunities for the future.

Our Mile High Chess Club members complete a rigorous journey of enlightenment and empowerment known as the Rites of Passage Program, learning life skills from conflict resolution to proper etiquette, forming unbreakable bonds with each other and their mentors. While some connotations of such a transitionary period may be seen as ‘tumultuous’ in nature, on the contrary, our goal with the Mile High Chess Club is to provide our young men and women with the tools necessary to rise above any form of adversity and succeed beyond any expectation in order for their future endeavors and ambitions to be virtually seamless.

In so many cases navigating this complex world - from school to the workplace to social and professional gatherings – from now through adulthood, our young mentees will more often than not be the “only” or “just one of a handful” of people of color in any situation at any given time. Therefore, they must know how  to hold their heads high and have an unwavering, rich knowledge of self so that no matter what the experience, the circumstance, the social, economic or political climate, their confidence to move mountains in this world will not be compromised.

After completing the Rites of Passage Program, the Mile High Chess Club Members will forever be called to Uplift Fallen Humanity, One Man, One Woman, and One Child at a time through exemplary leadership, not only in the classroom, but also with their families, friends, and the world abroad.
