Denver Inner City Parish is a local non religious non-profit celebrating 65 years in Denver. Our seniors program has been in the community for decades and supports 180 seniors annually and provides crucial transportation, grocery boxes and social and educational classes for seniors. Our seniors rely on us for assistance to get to doctors appointments, we provide around 2000 trips annually around the Denver metro area. We also provide over 1500 food boxes to seniors throughout the year with a small staff. Recently our federal funding has been decreased and we are $70,000 short of the crucial funding we need to continue to provide fresh and healthy food, rides and access to educational opportunities around the city. Our mission in the seniors program is to help older adults age in place in the community and thrive by providing assistance with transportation and financial barriers. Linda, one of our seniors said, "I feel safe to go and try new things because I trust DICP, if I didn't have them I would have to wait months to do something, until someone has time for me". Another DICP senior said, "I was really depressed, and now, I come to the program every week, I'm not depressed anymore and I'm more actively participating in helping my community by staying involved".
We are partnering with Next with Kyle Clarks Word of Thanks micro giving campaign to help us recover just under half of our funding loss for the program. Please help us continue to provide services to seniors in the Denver area.
DICP also provides support in the community for youth, including a nutrition based summer camp, nutrition classes and educational scholarships and fellowships. We are also a mobile food bank and an onsite food pantry. DICP provides wrap around services like SNAP enrollment, diapers for parents, hygiene and emergency bus passes.
