HRRMC Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides fundraising support for Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) to build and expand facilities, secure equipment, and enhance patient services throughout the 8,020 square mile region we serve. Our 25-bed hospital is designated as a Critical Care Access, Level IV Trauma Center and is accredited by the Joint Commission. We serve approximately 50,000 residents in our region.

This commitment to accessible healthcare is supported by five HRRMC rural health clinics in Buena Vista (BVHC), Custer County/Westcliffe (CCHC), Saguache, Salida (SHC), and South Park/Fairplay (SPHC).

HRRMC Foundation’s mission is aligned with HRRMC: to provide funding support for HRRMC to enhance the health of our community through the delivery of personalized and exceptional care.

We believe a strong and stable healthcare system is the heart of a healthy community. Through the generosity of community members and partners, we maintain a dynamic and thriving healthcare system throughout our service region.

Our current fundraising projects include:

Delnay Guest House at HRRMC

This 10-unit building on the back campus of HRRMC is scheduled to open in February 2025. Four units are dedicated for charitable overnight accommodations that benefit HRRMC patients, family members or caregivers who live 30-plus miles from Salida. These units can also be used by family members who live 30-plus miles away and are here to support local hospice patients. Six units will be temporary rentals for HRRMC employees. HRRMC Foundation has designated $1.6 million for construction costs (this includes $1.5 million from the Robert and Bernice Delnay Estate).

Picie Hylton Charitable Fund

With a generous gift from Hylton House, HRRMC Foundation was able to establish this fund as an operational fund for the four hospitality house units mentioned above, making accommodations free for overnight stays.  We continue to accept donations for this fund.

Mary Ann Banach Wound Care Center

Wound Care is a significant and growing need in our region. HRRMC's general surgeon currently sees 5-10 wound care patients per week, with over 30 other local primary care and specialized physicians that also see wound care patients who would benefit from these services. Creating a wound care center in Salida, would relieve patients from driving up to six hours round trip for care, plus extensive housing costs while receiving multiple daily treatments. Individuals with wounds from injuries, surgeries, or illness such as diabetes, require special care to help wounds heal. Many non-healing wound care patients require 2-hour treatments each day for 4-6 weeks. It is an intensive healing process that will be available here Fall of 2025. HRRMC Foundation has designated over $468,000 towards this project (and includes $363,000 from the Mary Ann Banach Estate).

Women’s Wellness Connection

This grant-funded program provides education and direct assistance to women to complete annual cervical and breast cancer screenings. Women who qualify financially, may receive free cervical screenings and mammograms. Early detection makes a difference. HRRMC Foundation has established a special fund for uninsured women under 40 years of age who detect signs of breast cancer and need a mammogram and are not covered by the WWC grant.
