"Fight For My Life" is an original song by music teacher Sam Budrik (she/her) written shortly after the Club Q shooting in November 2022. Sam is not from Colorado, or even the United States, but nevertheless, she was impacted by the tragic events driven by hate towards the LGBTQ+ community. She chose to help the only way she knows how - through the power of music to connect others.

The lyrics are derived from experiences from her own upbringing and journey into discovering herself, but the message is still vague enough that any queer person can relate:

"You hurt one of us, you hurt all of us."

As for the recording of the song, Sam wanted to bring together as many queer musicians and allies to perform on this track to show their solidarity with the people of Colorado Springs, especially those directly affected by the shooting.

Those who have worked on the project do not want the focus to be on them despite their efforts to make a great song; they encourage you to donate to the Colorado Healing Fund to support the friends and families of those injured and lost in the shooting.

Too often these crimes happen, big and small, high-profile and unnoticed. This is the least Sam felt she could do to make a difference, and assist a country she's never been to, but has always felt for.
