This is the last picture of our little boy Zachary. He had taken his first ‘real’ train ride. We frequently rode the City Park train but this day was different! This was Zach’s exuberant response to the BIG train.  He was our only child at the time of his death due to a devastating accident. It took us a lot of time, unwavering love from our small but mighty support circle and a ton of grueling grief work to find hope again.

As I share this picture with you all, I am noticing the number 3 on the train car for the first time in 30 years…this holds so much significance to me- Zach would be 33, this picture was taken 3 days before his death due to a devastating accident, he was 3 years old and years later I become one of the 3 founders of 3Hopeful Hearts.  So I’ve decided to set my fund-raising goal at $3,333!

3Hopeful Hearts has evolved into a space for thousands of families to truly explore their grief after the death of their child. Often the only comfort during the darkest of times is to feel seen and heard by a fellow bereaved parent. That peer support is the framework for 3Hopeful Hearts.

Over my 15 years with 3HH there are no words to express the journey of companioning others as they find their way through this wilderness of grief.  It has become my ‘why’! If this mission also speaks to your heart please consider giving.
