Please help us provide life-saving refuge this winter!

With the closure of the Severe Weather Shelter Network (SWSN), the unhoused community of north Jeffco faces dire risk during life-threatening cold nights. We, as a community of faith, have the chance to step in and make a difference by offering shelter through Arvada’s Overnight Weather Shelter hosted at The Rising Church.

The AOWS provided shelter on 45 extremely cold nights from November 2024 through March 2025. There were 277 unhoused guests with a total of 2,035 check-ins.  We aim to open again for the 2025-26 winter season. But we can’t do this alone—we need your support!

We are amazed by the outpouring of generous financial support and in-kind donations since we announced this project in September 2024! We have ongoing needs for dinner staples, consumable supplies, cleaning supplies, etc. We will need a paid site coordinator and paid overnight supervisor. If we are not able to raise sufficient funds to open overnight sheltering, all funding raised here will be reallocated to the emergency day shelter program. Join us in living out our faith through action and saving lives again this winter.
