Many of those experiencing homelessness in our community don't know a life beyond hardship. A hot meal and a shower at Mission Arvada are a start towards a more hopeful life. To change lives for the long-term, Mission Arvada is committed to addressing the root causes of homelessness and the deeper needs of our clients. We seek to promote the dignity and self-determination of every client we serve.
The Rising Church has been a fixture in Olde Town Arvada for 57 years. In September 2017, the church opened Mission Arvada, a day shelter for people experiencing homelessness. The day shelter was a structured response to the increasing number of people coming to the church for help. As the numbers grew from the occasional person asking for help to dozens of people living on the streets of Arvada, Pastor Steve and the congregation of The Rising recognized they were being called to provide a Christian response to the situation.
Today Mission Arvada is the only day shelter with on-site, in-person housing services in Jefferson County. Our immediate services include breakfast and lunch, showers, personal care items, gently used clothing and shoes, and laundry service.
Beyond addressing immediate needs, we provide in-depth, individualized, ongoing supportive services to our clients. Our housing support workers help with everything from getting new IDs, to providing bus passes for court dates, to direct referrals for other community resources. We also host partnering organizations in-house. Our partners provide health and dental clinics, legal support, job support, mental health support, and help accessing benefits.
