At The Community Market, food access is about more than groceries, it’s about dignity.
Each week, more than 4,500 individuals across Eagle County walk through our doors to select fresh produce, dairy, meat, pantry staples, and culturally relevant foods in a welcoming, customer-choice environment. Families shop for what they need, not what they’re handed. Parents choose foods their children will actually eat. Seniors access nutritious options that support their health and chronic conditions. Every neighbor is greeted with respect.
This work matters now more than ever.
As the cost of living continues to rise and the fallout from the “Big Beautiful Bill” begins to impact safety-net programs, many working families are navigating impossible choices between rent, healthcare, childcare, and groceries. Even small shifts in federal policy can mean fewer resources reaching rural mountain communities like ours. For families already stretched thin, that gap shows up at the kitchen table.
The Community Market helps ensure that no one in Eagle County has to choose between feeding their family and paying a bill.
To amplify community impact, the Eagle County Democrats will match the first $1,000 raised through this fundraiser, doubling the power of early gifts and helping us respond quickly to growing need.
But the need does not stop at $1,000. Every additional dollar raised strengthens our local safety net and ensures fresh, nutritious food remains accessible to the families who depend on it.
We serve thousands of neighbors each week, working parents employed in our hospitality and service industries, seniors on fixed incomes, individuals navigating health challenges, and children who rely on nutritious food to learn and grow. As uncertainty grows nationally, local solutions become even more essential.
What makes The Community Market unique:
• A dignity-centered, customer-choice shopping experience — no pre-packed boxes
• Over 600,000 pounds of rescued food annually, reducing waste while increasing access
• Culturally responsive outreach and bilingual services
• Partnerships with health providers and community organizations to address the root causes of food insecurity
We are not simply distributing food. We are strengthening health outcomes, stabilizing households, and building community resilience.
