About the Peggy A. Loader Memorial Scholarship

This Scholarship was created in honor of Peggy Anne Loader, a beloved teacher, mentor, mother, grandmother and cherished wife. As a dedicated teacher, Peggy influenced many young people's lives and was a strong advocate for those who needed a little extra help in their education. She had a particular passion for teaching children to read, believing that literacy was the key to unlocking a child's potential. Her love for reading and her dedication to her students left a lasting impact on her community. The Peggy A. Loader Memorial Scholarship was established by Peggy's loving husband, Neil Loader, and her sister, E. Michaela Laune, to honor Peggy's legacy, and recognize her passion and devotion to helping aspiring teachers.

DSF Future Centers

DSF is a nonprofit helping to make college possible for Denver Public Schools students and graduates. With support from community members like you, DSF builds the educational and economic future of Denver by collaborating with DPS high school students, families, and partners statewide to increase access and completion of post-high school learning. This work also expands generational exposure to career and entrepreneurial opportunities. Many DPS students begin their journey to and through college graduation by visiting a DSF Future Center (pictured above).

At 15 DSF Future Centers, DSF College Advisors guide students through building and pursuing their plans after high school, with a primary focus on postsecondary planning for higher education, including each step of the college application and financial aid process. Whether they choose a pathway to pursue a certificate, associate, and/or bachelor’s degree, DSF provides support in navigation and thought partnership every step of the way.

What are the results?

DSF Future Centers help DPS students apply for college, financial aid, and scholarships. DSF's Future Center served over 12,000 DPS students in 2023-24. In addition, DSF provides scholarships to qualifying DPS graduates who enroll in one of 30 College Partner schools, which include technical, community college, and universities across Colorado. In the 2023-2024 academic year, DSF awarded more than $7.6M to 2,190+ DSF Scholars. Additionally, every scholarship includes support services that aid Scholars on their journey to and through college graduation.

"DSF Scholars receive $3 in additional financial aid from our College Partners for every $1 they receive from DSF."

On average, each year our DSF Scholars receive $3 in additional financial aid from our College Partners for every $1 they receive from DSF. Because it takes more than just financial aid, DSF College Partners guarantee DSF Scholars additional academic and financial support on campus by providing additional grants and scholarships. Our College Partners also connect DSF Scholars with special programs and services such as mentoring, tutoring, workshops, and other programs and resources to help them succeed and ultimately graduate joining our broad DSF Alumni network.
