DNU is a non for profit organization providing education and courses of action to achieve a fairer, more equitable, and healthier life. We work to improve people’s communication skills at all levels: intrapersonal, intergenerational, interpersonal, and intercultural. We work with individuals, families, educational entities, organizations, and governments to educate on simple, courageous and compassionate communication. Our programs include individual appointments, family sessions, workshops, support groups, and courses to meet each person's needs and plant the seed of clear communication so we all can meet our needs, project our dreams, and achieve our goals.

DNU was born from my need as a mom to find support in Spanish for my family and me regarding parenting and mental health. Even though we are a bilingual family, it was very hard to find this support. As an individual, I have worked with the Spanish speaking community in Boulder county since 1997 in many different capacities,  and I have met many families that could not meet their needs because communication was not fluid between them and the agencies, organizations, and educational entities they were leaning on. I have also been a witness to the cultural disconnect between (non english speaking) parents and their (bilingual) children, as well as going through it myself. I have also been in touch with many individuals who also have a deeper communication disconnect, not just the lack of English, but the lack of literacy in their first language, and the cultural disconnection. These experiences and observations have made it clear to me that success and communication are intimately connected. To ease this path to success, I am creating the following programs.

Academia PRIMOV: Where Spanish speaking adults can learn to read and write in Spanish from beginner  to high school level writing and reading, we offer individual and in group instruction. Learning one's first language reading and writing is always a factor in financial independence, self sufficiency, and societal success. Being a capable reader and writer has a big impact on the individual’s self-esteem and the belief that one “can make it” in this society.

LiderArte: Oftentimes, women get their careers and personal dreams detoured because of motherhood or family obligations. Through art and self reflection, this program works to teach leadership skills to women so they can fulfill their dreams, whether they are professional or personal. This is a 12 week program with no more than eight women by cohort. This program is offered in English, in Spanish, or bilingual.

Just ´Cause:

Program for high schoolers to volunteer in Boulder County so they can understand how non-profit organizations work, how to support our communities, and why volunteering can make a difference in your and other´s lives. During this program, teens will meet leaders in Boulder County that can teach us about money, health, civic life, and many other useful topics. As well as meeting other people that have similar goals and want to have fun in a creative way while creating change in our communities.

Familias Arcoiris: A safe and encouraging space for Spanish speaking families and individuals who want to learn more about the LGBTQ+ community. We will discover resources, dispel doubts, develop a strong and supportive communication, and celebrate achievements.
