Humanities Heroine - #SaveColoradoStories

The sudden elimination of federal funding to the state Humanities Councils on April 2, 2025, represents more than a budget cut—it's an attack on the very foundation of what makes us human. For nearly five decades, Colorado Humanities has lifted up Colorado authors, sparked meaningful dialogue, and linked diverse communities. 

I refuse to let this moment pass without action. I commit to supporting Colorado Humanities as it transforms its business model and secures its future. 

The humanities aren't luxury—they're a necessity for a quality life. The humanities have fundamentally shaped who I am and how I understand the world around me. Through the power of human stories, critical inquiry, and cultural exploration, I've found meaning that extends far beyond myself.

Specifically, I find fulfillment and understanding through literature, poetry, history, art history, and religion. These disciplines have broadened my perspective on the full spectrum of human experience.

I'm passionate about the humanities because I deeply value civil discourse, critical thinking, reading non-fiction, fiction, and poetry; visiting museums, libraries, and historical sites. I enjoy listening to music, watching movies and documentaries, and studying cultures other than my own.

These experiences have enriched my life immeasurably and connected me to the larger human story. 

I believe that those of us who find value in the humanities should provide support NOW. This is our moment. Together, we will ensure that future generations of Coloradans have access to the transformative power of the humanities.
