Dr. J. Arturo Gonzalez was appointed as JSO's newest Music Director in 2023. He is only the 4th music director in our 71 year history! The majority of musicians have volunteered with JSO for more than 20 years, including several that have been playing for half a century!
JSO relies on SCFD funding and contributions from foundations and individuals to cover the costs of our programming. 85% of the budget goes to programming expenses such as artist fees, conductor salaries, venue, music and equipment rental.
Most all the musicians are volunteers, they donate their time and effort to present live classical music to audiences in Jefferson County.
Ticket sales cover only 25% of concert expenses, which is why JSO relies on the generosity of donors like you.
