AWRSAY Fund (DAF)

Arvada Wheat Ridge Service Ambassadors for Youth (AWRSAY) Fund is a donor-advised fund at Colorado Gives Foundation.

Purposes of the Fund: 

To support qualified organizations, both government and nonprofit, that serve youth, teens, or young adults to help them reach their full potential.

What We Do:

AWRSAY is a group of volunteers who bring together schools, businesses, service organizations and community members to recognize that resilience and connect students with opportunities to keep moving forward. Young people across Arvada and Wheat Ridge overcome challenges every day while continuing to show up, work hard, and build a future for themselves. AWRSAY helps young people know their community sees them and believes in what comes next.

1. Recognize resilience: AWRSAY honors students who have demonstrated perseverance in the face of significant challenges. Since 2001, more than 2,000 young people have been recognized.

2. Create opportunity: Personal Development Awards help middle and high school students pursue educational and enrichment opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.

3. Invest in what comes next: Graduating seniors can receive scholarships of up to $5,000 to continue their education at Red Rocks Community College. AWRSAY has partnered with qualified nonprofits to award nearly 500 scholarships since its founding.

4. Connect young people with community: Through mentorship and community partnerships, AWRSAY helps students build relationships with adults who can encourage them as they take their next steps.

Why It Matters:

Sometimes what changes a young person’s path isn’t only financial assistance:

• It is knowing someone noticed.
• It is hearing, “What you have accomplished matters.”
• And it is discovering that an entire community is willing to invest in what comes next.
• That is what AWRSAY has been doing for 26 years.
