Why This Matters: Research shows that when a child’s basic needs are not being met, it negatively impacts school attendance, physical and mental/behavioral health, and a child’s overall performance in school. Not having proper resources, access to opportunities and programs and basic needs met at home, can have a lasting negative impact on student success in school.

Our Give $5 to Thrive Campaign is fostering powerful partnerships with 20 districts in Colorado.

Through our district/school partnerships, we have implemented the following programs, which support our dedication to holistic well-being for students and staff:

  • Calming corners and various regulation sensory tools in all classrooms at an elementary school including specialized equipment for special education students
  • A gardening club to cultivate and foster the growth of a school tower garden that has emphasized student involvement and student voice
  • Health education kits in physical education classes for second grade students
  • Pilates classes and The Amazing Race® program to promote staff wellness promotion
  • Distribution of 300+ nutrition and physical activity education cards to families
  • Professional development for indoor recess best practices, which allow for more opportunities to engage in physical activity
  • Partnership with MiEN, which furthers our commitment to fostering a healthy and active school environment for all students
  • Access to essential needs at home, such as winter clothing, jackets, shoes and toys/books.

In addition, we have enhanced cultural awareness by highlighting student and family diversity by partnering with local businesses and spotlighting various heritage posters, aiming to celebrate and educate about diverse backgrounds and have strengthened community support by fostering partnerships with District Health Advisory Councils, schools’ Parent/Teacher Organizations, districts’ Education Foundations and various community partners to ensure alignment, support and sustainability to support whole child school health initiatives.

Your Impact: Together, we can give these children the opportunity to succeed at school and at home. Help us reach every child in need. Your gift—no matter the amount—makes a profound difference.
