Beyond the Courtroom: Showing up for Kids & Families
Every day, trained volunteer advocates from our community step up to stand beside children and families navigating some of life’s hardest moments. Our volunteers work with families, communities, and judicial systems to amplify the voices of children and ensure their best interests are at the forefront of court hearings.
At CASA of the Continental Divide, we are known for providing community-based advocacy in court. But showing up for kids and families goes far beyond the courtroom. With your help we are able to:
- Meet communities where they are, from homes and schools to courtrooms and playgrounds. Responding to community identified need we expand our programs to provide the necessary services to families in need.
- Provide Support for families navigating crisis, trauma, or systems involvement through connection to resources, sharing information on rights and legal systems.
- Build trust through strong relationships with families and partner organizations. Because every conversation, every connection, every act of advocacy is a step toward healing, hope, and long-term impact. We prioritize building relationships with the children and families we serve, our community partners, and service providers.
Examples of our volunteers showing up for kids beyond the courtroom:
- Connecting Families to Resources by: contacting several local thrift shops to find clothes for a child, securing free dental services, gathering donations from local partners, and arranging for needed appliances.
- Empowering Youth for the Future: Our volunteer advocates help teens prepare for adulthood by assisting with job applications, writing resumes, researching scholarships and helping with college forms.
- Going the Extra Mile- Literally: Our volunteers drive thousands of miles each year to visit the children they support. They may be the only adult visitor that a child receives at a juvenile detention center, or the only adult to call wishing a happy holiday. The consistency with which volunteers show up for children, reminds each child that they are not alone or forgotten.
On Colorado Gives Day, you’re not just supporting court advocacy for children; you’re helping strengthen communities, build meaningful connection, and provide steady support so children and families can truly thrive.
