Next's Word of Thanks Campaign

SECOR is a food pantry unlike you've ever seen. Serving 425 families each week across 55 zip codes covering Douglas, Arapahoe, and Elbert counties, SECOR works to address the hidden needs of suburban poverty. Unlike urban poverty, suburban poverty is often unseen, cloaked in shame and stigma. Whether it be divorce, job loss, or medical diagnosis, when life deals a cruel blow, SECOR is there.

The SECOR model stands in opposition to traditional food pantries in which "you get what you get." Recognizing that accessing supportive services is often a dehumanizing experience in which agency is taken away, SECOR's client-choice market centers itself around dignity. Each guest is welcome to choose the items that their family likes and/or can eat. In addition to shelf-stable pantry staples, SECOR also offers guests meat, dairy, eggs, produce, dietary-restricted items, hygiene products, and even flowers! 

Economic instability and the rising cost of living have created an environment where giving slows while the need rises. In the past two years, SECOR has experienced an over 200% increase in need.
