Skills clinics are essential to youth hockey development because they give players focused time to build the fundamentals they can’t always practice during team sessions or games. Clinics break down core skills—skating, passing, shooting, puck control, positioning—into teachable steps, allowing young athletes to repeat movements, build muscle memory, and gain confidence without the pressure of competition.

They also offer more individualized coaching, helping players correct habits early and progress at their own pace. This leads to stronger overall development, safer play, and a deeper understanding of the game. By strengthening foundational skills, clinics help players enjoy hockey more, contribute more to their teams, and stay engaged in the sport long-term.

FVHA is dedicated to bringing in skilled teachers for these development areas to give all the athletes in our program this opportunity on our home ice.  Our players have to travel so much for games and tournaments, we want to give them easy access here in the Fraser Valley.
