New Era Colorado is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization that harnesses young people's political power to co-create a better Colorado. We work closely with young folks around Colorado to register and turn out voters, make progress on the Youth Agenda, and build a political home for everyone.

This year, Colorado’s young voters defied national odds and turned out at record levels. Youth turnout in Colorado is at 69 percent this election, a full 27 points above the national average for young voters (42-44 percent).

New Era Colorado ran its most impactful cross-entity electoral program yet: We reached 1+ million young voters and our base of young people turned out at 86 percent, 17 points above the state average and at least 42 (!) points ahead of the national average. Young voters who identify as Black, Indigenous, and people of color turned out at 54 percent, also far above national averages and a testament to our outreach efforts.

Young people—and New Era Colorado—were essential in passing ballot measures that protect abortion and same-sex marriage rights: Amendment 79 and Amendment J. Exit polling shows that 69 percent of voters ages 18-44 voted in favor of Amendment 79, including 77 percent of young women and 62 percent of young men. Young people will continue to turn out to protect our freedoms and our futures. Support our work today to join us in continuing to pushing for Youth Agenda and youth political power across Colorado. We couldn't do this work without you!

Mission

New Era Colorado Foundation organizes young people to participate in the political process, develop as leaders, and find a political home.

Background Statement

New Era Colorado Foundation organizes young people to participate in the political process, develop as leaders, and find a political home. We create opportunities for young people to make change by working at the top-down (policy change) and bottom-up (organizing) levels to build toward the Youth Agenda, ultimately creating the world we want to live in.

Since our founding in 2006, we’ve registered more than 250,000 young people to vote, consistently turning out those same registrants at one of the highest rates in the country. We’ve won critical protections for student loan borrowers, played a key role in ballot measure campaigns to protect abortion rights and climate, enacted voter preregistration for 16- and 17-year-olds, advocated for key improvements to our voting systems, and more. The combination of these policy improvements and our ability to meet young people where they're at has had a measurable and long term impact on youth voter engagement in Colorado.
